Letterman actually knew who Barbara Walter’s most fascinating person was

Barbara Walter’s 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011 aired last night, and to be honest, it was probably as boring as late night TV gets. Barbara was standing in front of a terrible green screen, which made her look like she was in outer space and floating around when they did a wide shot. Plus, the last three people, perhaps what most would consider the ‘most fascinating’ were simply video montages that producers put together, that told us everything we already knew.

I guess Walters can’t nail down those ‘big’ interviews anymore.

What I found really interesting though, was that the night before, Walters was on The Late Show with David Letterman, where Dave boasted that he already knew who the ‘Most Fascinating’ person was – something that’s kept secret every year.’

As you can tell in the clip below, Babs has a reaction that can’t be her just ‘playing dumb’ which means Letterman wasn’t playing along – he actually knew. In fact, when he threatens to say it, she encourages him to go ahead, but Dave, kindly, refuses to do so, and decides to write it down.

The person they were talking about, ended up being Steve Jobs. As you watch the clip, notice 1. Dave almost goes ahead and says the name (gives an ‘S’ sound, but stops himself) and then when he writes it down, you can clearly see him writing the S for Steve, and the J, B and S for Jobs.

It’s cool, because it’s obvious Barbara has a moment of horror, thinking “Oh my goodness, is it really that obvious??”

Here’s the video:

Is .xxx a good thing? Not really.

People can now register a domain ending in .xxx

I’ve been following this story for a couple of years, and originally, I thought it was going to be a brilliant thing because there were talks that any adult themed site would in fact have to use the xxx TLD – which I thought, number one, was going to be brilliant for fighting against Porn, in that it would be extremely easy to block, and number two, was slightly fair to the porn industry in that the people behind it recognized there was no way it was going to get rid of porn altogether, but at least they could control it.

Now, as life has gone on, we’ve discovered that .xxx is in fact a voluntary service, and all of the ‘big wigs’ that have spent millions on branding will no doubt stick with their .com’s and go on with life.

Sure, they’ll register their .xxx to save their branding, but they’ll likely just forward it to the .com and move on with life.

So the question is, does .xxx really help the people who aren’t in favor of porn? Not really.

Sure, it’s easy to block all .xxx domains, but in order for that to be effective, then people actually have to use it. And for people to actually use it, then they have to be on side with it, and it doesn’t appear that the porn industry is in favor of it. In fact, now there’s a whole new world of possibilities for people to come up with domain names of adult material – and you know they will.

If anything, I almost feel that this is HELPING the porn industry – which from what I can tell, wasn’t the intention in the first place at all.
